  • Le'Veon Bell will play with franchise tag · Jul 17, 2018

Le'Veon Bell and the Pittsburgh Steelers made progress in contract negotiations but couldn't get a deal done, meaning Bell will play one more year under the franchise tag

Ian Rapoport has heard that Bell turned down a five year, $70M offer with more than $30M over two years. If true, the proposed deal would have easily made Bell the top paid back in the league. Instead, he'll play for one year and $14.5M and the odds of him returning to the Steelers in 2019 just got a lot slimmer. The 26 year-old runner had another solid season with nearly 1,300 yards and nine touchdowns in 2017. That said, Bell has never reached double digit rushing touchdowns and only once has played all 16 games. It stands to reason the Steelers may part ways with Bell's demands after 2018. Until then, Bell remains an elite dynasty runner but has fallen to the RB4 on DLF's running back rankings and his ADP (7) remains stable. There should be a big market for Bell in 2019 but no certainty the offensive dynamic will remain the same on a new team. While still a top back, he's a risk-on acquisition beyond 2018 until we know more about his long-term situation.

  • Le'Veon Bell finally breaks out · Oct 1, 2017

Le'Veon Bell rushed for 144 yards and two touchdowns on 35 carries and caught four passes for another 42 yards in Pittsburgh's win over Baltimore.

Dynasty owners rejoice! Bell finally gave us the performance we've been waiting for as he was used early and often and bludgeoned the Ravens defense as a result. With a solid game finally out of the way, look for Bell to start moving up the running back leaderboard over the next month.

  • Le'Veon Bell not a factor in win · Sep 10, 2017

Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell missed all of preseason. Sunday he was pretty much missing in action too. Bell had 10 carries for 32 yars and 3 catches for 15 yards.

Maybe it was a slow start. Maybe the Browns defense is (finally) improved. Maybe it was because Antonio Brown was going crazy outside. No matter how you cut it, this was not Bell's best effort. He'll probably bounce back next week, but this game raised some eyebrows.

  • Le'Veon Bell reports to Steelers Camp · Sep 1, 2017

Le'Veon Bell has reported to Steelers camp, as expected.

It's a sigh of relief for Bell owners, though certainly not a surprise. Bell will play out the year on the franchise tag, then hit free agency next year with the hopes of "resetting the running back market." Bell is a top three back when healthy, though he has battled some injuries throughout his career. Expect him to play out the year and be re-signed by Pittsburgh unless he asks for something comepletely unreasonable.

  • Bell and Pittsburgh fail to agree · Jul 18, 2017

Le'Veon Bell and the Steelers failed to reach a long-term agreement prior to the franchise tag tender deadline.

Bell will now play out the season on the franchise tag and hopes to re-establish the running back market in the off-season.  There would be multiple suitors for the talented running back as he looks to cash in during his prime years.  His value remains unchanged as he's an elite running back no matter where plays.  At the same time, the needle of James Conner is moving up a little as the Steelers will undoubtedly use the off-season (Bell has no need to report for a while) to evaluate what they have in Conner.

5 TJ Calkins, 08/09 Heading into age 26 season. Not impossible the best is yet to come.
7 Jake Anderson, 08/16 Arguably the best RB in the league. Where is he playing next year? How much does he have left in the tank? These are some serious questions. I would recommend selling if you can get a haul.
8 Travis May, 07/29 Can do it all. One of the few elite dual-threat options. Maybe best in the game.

12 Pete Lawrence, 08/15 In 62 career games since being drafted in round two of the 2013 NFL draft, Bell has tallied 7,996 yards from scrimmage in 62 career games. That is an average of 129 yards per game. Worried about workload after 321 carries in 2017 and 1229 over career.
