  • Hunter Henry tears ACL · May 23, 2018

Chargers' tight end Hunter Henry tore his right ACL on the first day of OTAs

Hunter was due for a huge year in 2018 as he took over for Hall of Famer Antonio Gates and it all ends on day one of OTAs. In two seasons as Gates' backup, Henry has still amassed 81 receptions, 1,057 yards and 12 touchdowns, respectable for a part-time player. It's no wonder he has seen a dramatic increase in value in drafts this spring. Currently the TE4 in DLF's tight end rankings, it's safe to reduce his value now that his 2018 season is lost. Henry's ADP (53) is at a career high but is sure to falter. He's a good acquisition target if you can acquire him on the cheap and have other tight end depth as he should return healthy with time to spare leading up to kickoff of the 2019 season.

  • Hunter Henry hits 90 yards on five receptions · Oct 17, 2017

Tight end Hunter Henry finished week 6 with five receptions and 90 receiving yards.

Hunter Henry has been pulling away from veteran teammate Antonio Gates. Henry out snapped Gates, 54 to 37 and saw seven targets to Gates one. Henry is quickly ascending the dynasty rankings at TE, in part of his performance, but also simply because of the lack of quality, consistent tight ends in the NFL.

  • Hunter Henry bounces back from week 1 goose egg · Sep 18, 2017

Henry tallied seven receptions for 80 yards on seven targets in the loss to the Dolphins.

Those worried about Henry's lack of involvement in the game plan during last week's matchup can breathe a sigh of relief. He was featured early and often, despite Gates setting the all-time TD record for TEs. This was good to see and should continue throughout the season.

The top rated tight end in the class goes off the board at pick 35 to the Chargers.  He offers a nice blend of receiving and blocking ability, so he will be on the field often. His game in some ways reminds me of Jason Witten. Tight ends often take a long time to develop into valuable fantasy assets, so I think he should be a third round rookie pick and could eventually offer TE1 upside, but will take time.

Really interesting selection and it raises Henry's draft stock quite a bit.  Gates is good for one more year, maybe and Henry could get early time.  Typically TEs take 3 years to get acclimated in the NFL but there's plenty of opportunity for earlier production

A nice, safe pick for the Chargers here. Henry is the top tight end prospect in the class. He isn't an overly athletic specimen but Henry is a complete tight end. He has soft hands, runs great routes, and is a good blocker. Learning the game from a HOFer this season will go a long way into turning him into a player once Gates finally rides off into the sunset.
