  • David Njoku's future dependent on quarterback · Jan 9, 2018

Daivd Njoku under-performed what many expected from the rookie in 2017

Njoku is the TE10 in DLF's dynasty rankings but finished the year as the TE24 showing why rookie tight ends are rarely a good bet early in fantasy drafts. Rookie tight ends have a notoriously long integration period to consistent production in the NFL and Njoku's season is far more the standard than it is the norm. On the year, Njoku produced 32 receptions, 386 yards and four touchdowns. These are borderline back-end TE2 numbers at best but is this production more of an indictment of erratic quarterback play than one of Njoku's talent? The Browns are certain to have a new quarterback under-center in 2018 unless 2017 rookie DeShone Kizer takes an enormous step. Another rookie will likely keep Njoku's production depressed for another year but he's shown solid hands and the exciting athleticism that was expected. This may be a case where Njoku won't reach his potential until quarterback play improves. Njoku is best as a developmental buy-low TE3 in dynasty.

  • Njoku Has Nice Line In His Best Game As A Pro · Dec 4, 2017

David Njoku turned in a 4/74/1 line on six targets in the Browns loss to the Chargers. His fourth TD of the season is a franchise record among rookie tight ends.

Njoku had a pair of incredible catches in this game and the arrow is very much pointing upward. He is miles ahead of the development curve for such a young rookie (turned 21 in July) at the slowest developing position, he and Evan Engram headline a rookie tight end class that is proving to be a wonderful exception to the late blooming tight end development rule.

  • David Njoku Scores Highlight Touchdown · Oct 8, 2017

Njoku made a silly, jaw dropping catch for the score. He finished the day with three catches for 48 yards and a score, on four targets.

Njoku flashed the ability that made him a first round pick by both the Browns and many dynasty owners. The arrow is certainly pointing up, however he shouldn't be counted on for consistent weekly production in 2017.

  • David Njoku quiet against the Bengals · Oct 2, 2017

David Njoku caught two passes for 11 yards in the Browns loss to Cincinnati.

Njoku won't be trusted in dynasty leagues until DeShone Kizer and the rest of the offense finds some kind of rhythm. Dynasty owners shouldn't panic because Njoku still has a very high ceiling. However, it's likely easier said than done when other rookie tight ends like OJ Howard and Evan Engram are already producing. If an owner in your league panics, now might be the time to make an offer for the uber-talented Njoku.

  • Njoku returns to practice · Aug 12, 2017

David Njoku returned to Browns practice today.

Listed below Randall Telfer on the depth chart, Njoku should be able to make up that ground in about an hour. His ADP has crept up to the top ten as an elite tight end prospect. It's a bitter pill to swallow for dynasty owners as that's a high price to pay in a rookie draft for a tight end.  However, Njoku's talent and athleticism is off the charts and he could pay dividends earlier than most tight ends if DeShone Kizer can develop quickly.
